Description

Eclectus parrot is a medium-sized parrot native to New Guinea and the Solomon Islands. It is named for its vibrant coloration, which includes shades of red, orange, yellow, green and blue. These birds have been bred in captivity since the 1880s and are popular as pets due to their striking appearance and intelligence. They can be trained to speak, whistle tunes, mimic sounds like that of a squeaky door or telephone ringing and even perform tricks.

The Eclectus pair is usually found in small flocks in the wild. They live in rainforests at altitudes up to 3200 meters above sea level. These birds move around a lot during the day searching for food sources such as fruits and seeds but they prefer palm nuts most often than other foods available in their habitat like berries that grow on shrubs or trees near ground level where they can easily reach them without having to climb up high branches where some predators might lurk waiting for an easy meal from unsuspecting victims who are too busy enjoying their tasty treats down below unaware that danger may be lurking nearby ready to pounce if given half chance; but not so with these clever birds who have learned.
