Description
The Boston Terrier is a small, compact dog that has a short, smooth coat and a distinctive flat face. They are known for their friendly disposition and their willingness to please. They have an athletic build with a broad chest and muscular shoulders. The Boston Terrier has a short tail that curls toward its back.
The breed was developed in the early 1800s in Boston, Massachusetts as an all-around farm dog that could be used for hunting and as a guard dog. The breed was first shown in 1878 at the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show and became popular as a companion dog after World War II when returning soldiers brought them home from Europe.
Boston Terriers are affectionate, playful dogs who enjoy being around people. They can become overprotective of their family if they do not receive enough attention from them. They do best with active owners who will take them on long walks every day or play games with them indoors instead of leaving them alone with nothing to do but chew on furniture or other household items if left alone for long periods of time during the day while everyone is away at work or school all day long every single weekday weekdays only (no weekends).

The breed has a wide range of colors: brindle (dark stripes over a lighter background), black and white or red and white; fawn (light brown markings on a darker background); silver (black markings on a dark background); or white.
The Boston Terrier was developed in the 1800s by crossing bulldogs with English terriers. It is named after Boston, Massachusetts where it was first bred in America.
Boston Terriers are known to be very affectionate towards their owners but they can also be very protective of them. They make good companions for elderly people as they are easy to handle and get along well with other animals including cats!
